Key Decisions Made at 55th HFI Annual General Body Meeting

The 55th Annual General Body Meeting of the Handball Federation of India was held on 26th March 2026 at Hotel Almond Leaf, Kurukshetra.

The meeting deliberated upon several important agenda items, including the finalization of the competition calendar for the year 2026–27, amendments to the Constitution, and revisions in the Competition Regulations of the Handball Federation of India. The House also approved the formation of various sub-committees in accordance with the provisions of the Federation’s constitution.

The House constituted various committees to strengthen the functioning of the Federation. Mr. Khurshid Khan was appointed as Chairman of the Technical Committee, Mr. Arunava Chaudhuri as Chairman of the International Relations Committee, and Mr. Rama Shankar Sharma as Chairman of the Referees Board. Ms. Radha Rani Ahlawat was appointed as Chairperson of the Women’s Committee, with Ms. Sonia as Deputy Chairperson and Ms. Tarjeet Kaur Saluja as Member. Further, Mr. C. P. Singh was appointed as Chairman of the Planning and Development Committee, while Mr. Litan Roy (Tripura) was appointed as Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee with Mr. Dr. Rajasekar Navaneethakrishnan (Tamil Nadu) as Member.

The meeting also approved the appointment of National Team coaches. Mr. Shivaji Sindhu was appointed as coach for the Men’s team and Mr. Ranjit Singh as coach for the Women’s team. Mr. Narender Singh Mann and Mr. Mahesh Kumar Hooda were appointed as coaches for the Junior teams.

In addition, zonal leadership responsibilities were assigned to strengthen regional development. Mr. Pavan Kumar Shyamala was appointed as Chairman of the South Zone, Mr. Bhuwan Chandra Bhatt as Chairman of the West Zone, Mr. Des Raj Thakur as Chairman of the North Zone, and Mr. Birendra Kumar Behera as Chairman of the East Zone.

During the meeting, the hosting rights of various National Championships and major events were allotted. The Senior Men’s National Championship was awarded to Madhya Pradesh, while the Senior Women’s National Championship was allotted to Punjab. The Junior Boys’ National Championship will be hosted by Haryana and the Junior Girls’ National Championship by Punjab. The Sub-Junior Boys’ National Championship was allotted to Telangana and the Sub-Junior Girls’ National Championship to Madhya Pradesh. The Federation Cup for the current year has been awarded to Rajasthan, while the next edition will be hosted by Telangana. Among the zonal championships, the North Zone Championship was allotted to Himachal Pradesh, the East Zone Championship to Odisha, the South Zone Championship to Telangana, and the West Zone Championship to Rajasthan. The All India Inter-District Championship has been awarded to Telangana, and the Beach Handball Championship will be hosted by Andhra Pradesh.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from all members to further strengthen and promote the development of handball across the country.
