The Handball Federation of India, Rohtak (Hindi: हैंडबॉल फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडिया, रोहतक) (HFI), is the administrative and governing body for handball, beach handball, and wheelchair handball in the Republic of India.
HFI was formed in Rohtak, Haryana, on 10 October 1971, during a meeting held under the presidentship of Professor Dharam Singh Dhillon and in the presence of Mr. Jagat Singh Chauhan, the first HFI Secretary General, with the aim of promoting and developing handball in the country. The HFI was registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, as amended by the Punjab Amendment Act, 1957, in Rohtak, Haryana, on 15 June 1972.

HFI has been a full and voting member of the Indian Olympic Association since 1973-1974.
International Handball Federation, Basel
The Handball Federation of India has been a full member of the International Handball Federation (IHF) since 4/5 October 1974. HFI was admitted as an IHF member during the 15th IHF Ordinary Congress held in Jesolo, Italy, on 4 and 5 October 1974.
Asian Handball Federation, Kuwait
The Handball Federation of India has been a full member and one of the founding members of the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) since AHF was formally established on 8 January 1976, during the 1st AHF Ordinary Congress held in Kuwait.

The Handball Federation of India is recognized as a National Sports Federation (NSF) responsible for controlling and regulating handball in India since the implementation of the National Sports Development Code of India in 2011.
